Midnight Diner

A night-shift cook, a regular who never orders, and one conversation that changes both.

Quiet city street at night with traffic lights glowing teal

Shot in a working Rotterdam snackbar between closing and dawn, Midnight Diner is a two-character chamber piece about the hours when the city belongs to almost nobody.

Practical neon was our entire lighting package, supplemented by a single small LED panel. The owner still has our gaffer tape marks on the floor — a badge of honour.

We rehearsed the six-minute centrepiece like theatre and shot it in overlapping masters, so the actors could play the whole scene without the camera ever calling cut for coverage.
