Craft

Paint, dust and patience — a maker’s portrait for a studio that still does everything by hand.

Studio Mensinga restores paintings the slow way. We spent three days inside their atelier, filming the restoration of a single 19th-century harbour scene from varnish removal to final glaze.

Macro lenses turn brushwork into landscape. The film anchors their new website and plays in the waiting room, where clients now arrive already trusting the hands.

One camera, available window light, and strict instructions to never ask anyone to repeat a gesture. Craft can’t be staged — so we watched, waited, and kept the takes long.
